Party wall costs shouldn’t swamp your build budget. At Simple Survey, we’ve engineered a pricing model that’s lean, transparent and focused on doing the essentials really well—so you stay compliant with the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 without paying premium-rate mystery fees.
Our headline prices (clear and simple)
- Party Wall Notice service: £25 per adjoining ownership (multi-notice bundles discounted)
- Act administration as Agreed Surveyor (single surveyor): typically £300 fixed-fee (depends on complexity and number of notices/owners)
- Two-surveyor route (we act for the Building Owner): fixed-fee proposals from £325 for our side (we work to keep your neighbour’s surveyor’s hourly fees reasonable and contained)
That’s it. No “setup charges,” no surprise admin add-ons, no opaque hourly rates for routine work.
Why our fees stay low (and your project stays on track)
1) Task-first, not time-first
We price the actual outcomes you need—valid notices, a robust Party Wall Award, and swift issue resolution—rather than racking up hours. Fixed fees for defined stages keep your exposure predictable.
2) Thorough notices prevent costly re-serving
An invalid notice wastes weeks and invites dispute. We draft notices correctly the first time, with the right statutory detail (and drawings when Section 6 excavation applies). Upfront precision = fewer spiralling costs later.
3) Fast, pragmatic administration
Delays cost money. We keep momentum: clear comms with neighbours and surveyors, sensible timelines, and swift paperwork. The result? Fewer site standstills and fewer “project slippage” bills.
4) Cost control in two-surveyor matters
If your neighbour appoints their own surveyor, we push for proportional fees and scope. We agree sensible inspection limits, avoid unnecessary duplication and keep everyone inside the remit of the Act—where value for money is easier to defend.
5) Design change? We keep it proportionate
When works evolve, we assess whether a variation needs fresh notice or a supplemental award and limit the paperwork to what the Act actually requires. You get compliance without gold-plating.
Where savings really happen
- Avoiding injunction risk: Proper notice + valid award = reduced likelihood of urgent legal action and expensive downtime.
- Preventing re-work: Getting the paperwork right avoids re-serving notices and re-writing awards that burn weeks and budget.
- Keeping scope tight: We focus the award on notifiable works only—no sprawling conditions that inflate fees.
- Neighbour relations: Clear, courteous explanation often heads off dissent (and duplicate surveyor costs).
Professional, not “cut-price”
Lean doesn’t mean light-touch. You get competent, responsive professionals who know the Act inside out and keep matters within its boundaries (and your budget). When complexity genuinely demands it—unusual structures, phased excavations—we’ll tell you early, price it fairly, and still keep a firm lid on scope creep.
