When your neighbour undertakes construction work, it’s possible for damage to occur to your property. Typically, this damage happens unintentionally by the builder or contractor and is of no benefit to your neighbour, as they’ll ultimately need to resolve the issue.
If your property has been affected by your neighbour’s work, there are two main approaches to rectify the damage. Whether you opt for an Agreed Surveyor or appoint your own, the issue can be addressed effectively.
If you choose your own Surveyor, simply instruct them to liaise with your neighbour’s Surveyor to manage the situation. If you’re both using the same Surveyor, the process remains the same.
Here are two solutions available to you:
- Allow the Builder/Contractor to fix the damage: The builder responsible for your neighbour’s works can be tasked with putting right the damage caused.
- Obtain multiple quotes from contractors: Both you and your neighbour can gather a few quotes from different contractors. Once all quotes are collected, an agreement will be made on which contractor to proceed with.
